Siiri is a 20's something Seattle, Washington native who loves to share her cooking.
Siiri Sampson is a Seattle, Washington native who enjoyed learning two very different styles of cooking growing up. Her mom’s family has a Southern background, lending a down-home, comfort food style to her classic, generations-old family dishes. Her dad has always favored experimenting in the kitchen, and it was his flair for whipping up the unknown that sparked Siiri’s curiosities as a young cook.
Returning to Seattle as an adult has opened up new possibilities for Siiri as a cook. As a vibrant 20′s something in the forward-thinking city, Siiri strives to entertain small groups of friends throughout the year, on a budget and without much fuss. She’s now focusing more on sharing her tricks, tips, hands-off hints, and how to keep it local, without spending more time, money or energy than ordinary.
Her blog, A Half Cup, aims to convey these themes to the young bunch like her, the parents on time and money budgets, and home cooks who just feel like there’s never enough time to follow a recipe!
Siiri welcomes feedback, contributions, critiques and community discussion and hopes she can bring you at least one quick trick, or new favorite cooking idea in future posts or discussions.
Thanks for visiting, and happy cooking!
Siiri,
great site. I love the recipes and the photos especially of you.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you like it and I hope you find something to make for yourself!
Hey Siiri,
My name is Kevin Brady and I work for mike’s hard lemonade in their social media dept. I got your information from Kam Martin. I read your blog and the food looks amazing. Anyway, mike’s hard lemonade is going to be at the Blog meets Blog event on Friday and I wanted to personally invite you to our table. We’ll be serving hot “mike’s hard spiced apple” with cinnamon (we think it pairs great with most fall recipes) and we’d love to say hi. Also, we are going to organize a “tweet up” in the next few weeks. Let me know if you would like to be a part of that. Mike’s is a Seattle based company and we are really interested in getting involved in the community. Both on and offline.
Cheers,
Kevin Brady

Hi Siri,
Thanks for following @getmecooking on Twitter. I see from your blog that you sometimes get recipes from recipe websites. I was just wondering what you thought of http://www.getmecooking.com ? All feedback (positive and negative) is welcome
Your Personal Pies (http://ahalfcup.com/2009/10/19/inspiration-personal-pies-from-our-best-bites/) look really good!
Thanks.

I have been reading your blog for the last couple of hours, and it all has been very informative and well written. I did want to let you know that for some reason this post doesn’t seem to work with Internet Explorer. On a side note, I was wondering if you wanted to swap blogroll links? My website is Router Table Plans if you’re interested. I hope to hear from you soon!
Hi there, I don’t have a blogroll, but thanks for checking out my blog and good luck with yours!
A friend emailed me a link to your blog. He said, “Hey check this blog out, it sounds just like you”, and wow was he ever right. If I didn’t know better I could have sworn I’d written some of these posts myself. Thanks for making me smile today.
Just wanted to share my great aunt Minis Honey Lemonade Recipe: 1/2 gallon warm water, 1/2 cup honey, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice. Just mix it all with your hands (their warmth will disolve the honey and sugar) and pour mixture into a gallon container filled 3/4 with ice. You can even add a sprig of lavander or a slice of fresh ginger for a little extra flare.
That recipe sounds great, I’ll keep it in my summer section for the coming year! (something to look forward to!)
Great post!

Hello! Someone in my facebook group made a comment about this site so I came to take a look. I’m definitely enjoying the way you write. I’m book-marking! Fantastic style and layout.
I saved your rss feed as I couldn’t find your e-mail subscription link or newsletter service. Do you’ve any?
hi there, yes I have an email subscription button on the home page, on the right hand side. Just add your email and hit enter! Thanks!
HI There, I am having a group of GF’s over after work and I am going to serve the Salmon Salad you have listed in your (Ithink in Decmeber) recipes. I bought my food supplies at Trader Joe’s and will be using leftover grilled salmon. WIth the hubby out of town this week, I already ate salmon each day, time to share the rest. Looks great, love following you on pinterest.
Hi Jenny!
That sounds wonderful – and kudos for using leftovers, I’m sure it’ll be delicious! Take pictures and send them over if you want, I’d love to share with everyone! Cheers – Siiri
