Oh Friday the 13th, how I loathe you. Sometimes when you sneak up on me, and I’ve all but forgotten you even exist, you tease me with silly little mishaps on my way to the office.  No matter, I’m getting the last laugh here, as I wash down whatever you bring on with a fatty slice of my friend Kathy’s insanely good holiday “Over 21” Real Fruit Cake with Maker’s Mark at her Holiday Extravaganza on Saturday!

Kathy Casey’s Holiday Extravaganza & Open House

We took a brief interlude last year, but we’re back! We’re once again opening the doors to my Food Studios to host a wonderful Holiday Extravaganza & Open House, where I’ll be selling lots of gifts for your favorite foodie. From our always popular “Over 21” Real Fruit Cakes  made with Maker’s Mark and Dish D’Lish® Seasonings to my Liquid Kitchen® barware and other specialty goods, we’ll have lots of tasty ideas for you. And of course, we’ll have tasty nibbles from my lastest book D’Lish Deviled Eggs as well as from Sips & Apps.

These fruitcakes are chock full of Maker’s Mark soaked dried fruits, including apricots, cranberries, tart cherries and golden raisins as well as loads of nuts from toasted hazelnuts to rich pecans – with a little spiced batter to bind it all! Baked then brushed hot out of the oven with a bourbon- brown sugar syrup.

“This fruit cake is sure to convert any fruitcake hater. And with all that delicious bourbon, fruit and nuts in it, this fruit cake certainly won’t end up in the closet or re-gifted! I love a slice for Christmas morning breakfast and hot cup of coffee,” commented Kathy Casey.
