How do I feel: Okay. Back to work today for a short week, so I definitely can’t complain. But I desperately need to get to the grocery store.

Day 9 (Tuesday, January 21s) is pretty bland on the whole. Worked all day, ate the usual stuff. I am starting to get motivated to find actual Whole30 dishes over the coming weekend, because I’m officially bored of the “just eating the food items and not using them as ingredients in a dish” action. As you’ll see from my food diary below, it’s pretty bland. And that is NOT because there aren’t lots of dishes out there to make, or resources to use. It’s because I can kind of just whip together  a few items in a hash, or salad or whatever, eat it and be fine with it not being inventive. Usually on the last two bites though, I’ll think to myself, “ugh! That’s the LAST time this week I’m eating XYZ. For real this time” because certainly I will have already said that to myself at least once in the last few days. So……we’ll see.

The one thing I did notice was at the gym – yes, I’m back in the gym after a week (or so…..) off. I felt both GREAT and EMPTY! I really felt on top of my game as far as form and endurance, but at the end of my circuit I really felt like I was running on fumes because I hadn’t eaten since my late afternoon snack at 3pm and it was now 8pm. Shame on me! I had a late dinner of pan roasted veggies (See below), which were SO SO good.

Food Diary:

Breakfast: (Bonus points if you can now recite this from memory. You know I’m having the same thing every. single. morning.) Except now I’m out of eggs, so no eggs this morning. Sad.

  • coffee + homemade almond milk
  • 10 ounces H2O
  • 1 large banana
  • raw almonds

Lunch:

  • 1 can tuna + 1 diced avocado
  • 1 large Fuji apple
  • almonds and currants
  • tea and water

Pre workout snack:

  • 2 bites chicken veggie curry (oh my god, when will I hit the bottom of this pot of curry?! I am so over it!)
  • 5 almonds

Dinner:

  • cast iron seared mushrooms, onions, garlic, zucchini, jalapeno, basil (so much food I couldn’t finish it)

Lesson of the day: Yay for me, for working out. Boo for me, for not having eaten enough before hand and feeling like a gym zombie during my workout. But god, that workout felt good!
